A man claiming to be a pastor apparently tried to stiff a waiter on a tip, explaining that his work for God absolved him of having to leave one.
A photo of the receipt, posted to Reddit.com, shows a bill for $34.93 with an automatic 18 percent gratuity (or $6.29) added above a blank space for an additional tip. "I give God 10%," the diner wrote on the receipt, scratching out the automatic tip. "Why do you get 18?" He then wrote "Pastor" above his signature, and an emphatic "0" where the additional tip would be. (The automatic gratuity, however, had already been added to the total.)While it's kind of funny...not exactly the way to model generosity, Pastor 10%. Sigh.

Sounds like IC is allowed to be sarcastic, but Mr. Pastor 10% isn't.
And let's not get started about America's stupid gratuity system.
#1 The pastor said the service was fine but refused to tip.
#2 Perhaps it was just funny but I'm pretty sure that backfired
#3 I try not to be sarcastic, certainly not to specific individuals
and FYI apparently the waitress was fired for posting the receipt on reddit.
People may not like how tipping works here, but the reality is wait staff get paid less than minimum wage assuming that people will tip.
(I found out about the waitress being fired later)

This is one of many postings I've seen regarding this particular incident. Saddest, at least for me, has been the verbal backlash against any and all "organized religions" that I've seen. And, what I found most stunning, the pastor was infact, female! Just sad all around. What on earth happened to "do unto others as you would have done unto you."?
Not that I take any pleasure in the association in this case, but you should be aware that the pastor in question is a she.
We aren't all guys.
If were the church board I'd fire the pastor and petition Appleby's to hire the waitress back.

That's what I meant with "...about America's stupid gratuity system".
