Colbert's "The King of Glory": the annual re-posting
Um, we sang "All Glory, Laud and Honor" this year...but I do know every verse of this song....

God Gives Stephen Colbert Amazing Discernment Powers! More at 10!
P.s. Not for those easily offended by the ongoing blasphemy of saying aloud "Yahweh."
(But I think the Gourd line is completely worth it.)

A Colbert Classic: The King of Glory
My favorite Colbert video, and a (formerly? please God? we'll find out tomorrow...) popular Palm Sunday entrance song.

"So, if I didn't wash my arm for a week, you're saying there would be babies growing on my arm?"
Watch it here.
HT to the Happy Catholic, who references an interesting article at First Things on Colbert.
(Waiting half an hour for that Comedy Central video to load? Sorry. Go pray at NaPraGoMo until the video loads.)

Colbert: He's In The Race!
See videos of the announcement at "The Word" (with a crossbar I can't type. Bah.).
p.s. HT to The Word for Colbert's Religion Randomizer as well...although be warned, it is funny but VERY politically incorrect (I know, a win-win for many of you).

Wisdom from Colbert
Amen!Always a devout Catholic, Colbert lost his faith after graduating from college. “I was very depressed about it,” he says. “I wanted the idea that I would see my father and brothers again, and it was heartbreaking to think that that wouldn’t happen.” Then, one winter day, as Colbert walked down a street in Chicago, a Gideon handed him a Bible. “It was so cold I had to crack the pages,” he recalls. “I flipped it open, and it had a list of things to read about if you were feeling different ways. Under ‘Anxiety,’ it said ‘Matthew V,’ the Sermon on the Mount.” He paraphrases: “‘Who among you by worrying can change a hair on his head?’ It spoke to me.”
...
...Colbert remembers the lesson of the Sermon on the Mount: “That’s being fearless,” he says. “Not living in fear is a great gift, because certainly these days we do it so much. And do you know what I like about comedy? You can’t laugh and be afraid at the same time. If you’re laughing, I defy you to be afraid.”

Colbert on Mother Teresa
OK, there are a couple clunkers in here, but this video clip made more serious points in five minutes than did the entire Christopher Hitchens screed in Newstweak. Just remember to let the video start loading and then go pray for 10 minutes, kill time on Humor-Blogs.com, and then plow the back forty or something, because the Comedy Central site loading takes forever.
(And Fr. James Martin is on too! Woo hoo! I love this guy!)

If Colbert Were A Prophet, aka The Ironic Catholic Bible Challenge
Bloggerdom glory will go to the person who solves this puzzle. If Stephen Colbert were a prophet, and he had an on notice board, which nation would come next (in the ??? spot)?
I know we have an ecumenical audience here, but I am begging the Catholics to disprove that we never read the Bible. We do, darn it. So...go at it in the midrash box.
WINNER! Kathryn (give me a link, Kathryn) got it right and early! I'm so proud! The answer is in the midrash box.
NEXT QUESTION: Who is the prophet to which I am referring?
WINNER! Diane of Bringing Home the Word got it...it's the first two chapters of Amos.

Dance, Catholic, Dance
I actually think that liturgical dance can be done well, like any other art in service of God. Unfortunately, "done well" occurs about .25% of the time. Trust Stephen Colbert to send up the other 99.75%. (Hat tip to You Duped Me, Lord.)
ALSO: Can't resist adding this piece on Pope Benedict's IPod moves from Jay Leno. Note, no liturgy involved. (Hat tip to Happy Catholic.)
